Thousands of medical patients across the State might have to resort to having their medical tests done for a second time following a glitch made by the Health Safety Executive’s (HSE) computer systems.
According to the Irish Times, the error, which was discovered just last week, affects at least 25,000 X-rays, MRIs, CTs and ultrasounds taken since 2011.
A major investigation is currently underway.
A spokesperson from the HSE has stated that: “The system has been checked and no new issues have been created since 7pm on Thursday, July 27th.”
The HSE has also mentioned that patients may have received unnecessary treatment as a result of faulty information.
