Make Mates Rapidly With These ‘Speed Friending’ Events That Are Hitting Dublin

seank

Tired of having to develop relationships over time? Now you can speed the whole process up with these ‘speed friending‘ events that are currently taking Dublin by storm.

Organised via the website Meet-Up, Dublin’s speed friending club boasts an incredible 1,897 members at present. The Speed Friending club’s page describes the event like this:

Speed friending is a way to let people know you want to hang out with them without the awkwardness. Come along, have a quick chat with people from all different walks of life, see who you click with and bada-bing new friends to do cool stuff with!

As the name suggests, the event works a bit like speed dating: you get 5 minutes with each speed friender to test the waters and see if you’d like to hang out with them in future. Each of these mini-meets are seated and participants are provided with a box of conversation starters “just in case.”

The speed friending events get an average of 30 people showing up to each of their nights and they usually take place in either The Mercantile or O’Donoghue’s on Suffolk Street.
