There’s tonnes to do this weekend and we’ve put together our top picks of must see events in the city. There’s everything from Disney on Ice for the kidults among you, the ultimate 80s night out and a few educational events thrown in for the intellects.

Disney On Ice

To celebrate Disney’s 100th anniversary, this incredible production showcases over 60 Disney characters spanning the decades. You can expect to see the likes of Simba & Nala, Lilo & Stitch, Nemo & Dory, as well as a host of other characters. Perfect for the little ones, but also for the big kids, this magical spectacle will transport you straight back to your childhood. This Disney extravaganza is taking place from today until the 16th in Citywest Hotel and tickets can be bought here.

Dublin Book Festival

Reminding us that reading is cool since their first event in 2005, the Dublin Book Festival is back once again. With the Smock Alley Theatre as its hub and expanding out to venues across the city, there will be a variety of events for all ages, ranging from readings to book launches, walking tours to children’s writing workshops. With such a diverse line up and a range of priced and free events, there’s bound to be something of note for book lovers of all types. Young Hearts Run Free November Edition

Young Hearts Run Free is a fun, creative collective with a noble cause. Aimed at helping to promote the creative in Ireland whilst raising funds for the Simon Community, their fun and donation-based events have been making waves since 2008. Their November installment takes place in the bar of the Project Arts Centre on Friday– expect spoken word, performance art, some fantastic tunes, and an overall warm fuzzy feeling on a cold November eve.

Science Week

Aimed to promote the relevance of science and technology in our everyday lives, Science Week makes a welcome annual return. This year’s theme is ‘The Power of Science’, with a series of lectures, talks, interactive workshops and film screenings throughout the city to demonstrate how the awesome power of science has made possible what was once thought impossible. Anyone who wants to learn about the wonders of our universe should be sure to attend, the week finishes this Sunday.

Back to the Future and the Enchantment Under the Sea Dance

Become a part of Back to the Future with The Enchantment Under the Sea Dance. For one night only, The Sugar Club will be done up in the style of the high school dance from the 80s classic, complete with screening as well as bands playing hits from the movie. For total immersion dress up in 50s get-up and become part of the flick while drinking punch and having your photo taken in a DeLorean. Check it out this Saturday at 7.30pm.
