The company behind on of London's favourite celeb hangouts has been given the green light to open a new restaurant in Dublin.
The Ivy is a favourite among the rich and famous in the English capital and now Dublin City Council has granted planning permission for a new location on Dawson Street here in Dublin.
According to The Journal, the council had initially expressed a desire that a large portion of the ground floor of the development should be dedicated to retail space. However, planning consultants John Spain & Associates warned that this would severely impact upon the viability of The Ivy at this location.
The company said:
“The suggested reduction in ground floor restaurant space would prejudice the operational viability of The Ivy at this location and the proposal could not proceed. The level of ground floor restaurant space proposed is crucial.”
One Molesworth Street, on the corner of Dawson Street is the preferred building for what would be the first international location of The Ivy.
