It wasn’t somewhere you’d go for craft beer, and a steak sandwich with triple-cooked fries served out of a welly… and that’s precisely why we loved it.
But as of some point last week, Fallon’s – the snug little bar on New Row South in Dublin 8 that specialised in excellent Guinness and even better atmosphere – has brought its shutters down for the last time, according to a report by our friends over in Publin.
There were rumours that Teelings Whiskey Company had purchased the bar with the aim of turning it into a whiskey joint, however a source inside the company told Lovin Dublin today that this was not the case – and that a planned purchase of the bar by the family had fallen through due to limited development potential at the site.
However we still haven’t heard anything concrete to this end, so we’ll keep you posted – and in the meantime, we’ll cling to the remote chance that it will reopen either in its original guise, or as a slick new whiskey joint for the growing hipster hordes in Dublin 8.
