One Of The Most Controversial Films Ever Is Being Screened In Dublin This Month

There are certain movies that need to be on everyone's bucket list and Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange, which is being shown in The Light House Cinema this month, is definitely one of them.

The film is set in a dystopian vision of England where anti-social behaviour is rampant, and it tells the tale of troubled youth Alex (Malcolm McDowell) who enjoys milk, Ludwig Van Beethoven and ultraviolence.

It's the ultraviolence bit that ultimately gets young Alex into a spot of bother..

When it was first released in 1971 the film caused an uproar for its, at the time, unacceptable levels of sex and violence.

The screening is part of The Light House's monthly Cinema Book Club, where those who attend are encouraged to read the book from which the film is adapted, in this case the book of the same name by Anthony Burgess.
