Phoenix Park’s 139-Year-Old Train Tunnel Will Be Reopened By Christmas

Alana Laverty

About f*cking time…

The tunnel is set to re-open by Christmas allowing trains to travel directly from Newbridge and Hazelhatch Stations in Kildare to the IFSC, Drumcondra, Connolly, Tara and Pearse stations, the south city centre and Grand Canal Dock areas in about an hour or less.

HURRAH

Commuters from these areas will be able to avail of 15 weekday trains daily, which will be beyondddd handy.

The train will travel through the 139-year-old tunnel under the Phoenix Park. Pretty cooool.

There’ll be 7 new morning rush-hour services and 8 return, evening rush-hour services – less stress and more space and air for everyone. That’s always a good thing.

Services will increase to weekend and evening services once the weekday service is rolled out.

And we’re looking forward to seeing how it all pans out.
