PICS: Check Out What The Clontarf To City Centre Cycle Track Will Look Like

A brand new cycle track spanning 2.5km between Clontarf and Dublin city centre has gone to open consultation according to Dublin Live, with the public being asked to give their feedback on the plans.

The plans for the cycle track will see improvements being made to existing kerbs and cycle lanes all the way from Talbot Street/Connolly Station to Clontarf at the Alfie Byrne Road.

Due to this, there will be a loss of kerbside trees and "construction issues in accommodating new footpaths and cycleway beneath the crown of retained trees within the park boundary".

There will also be an opportunity to "re-imagine the Fairview park-village interface addressing mitigation of the above issues, enhancement of the boundary and creating improved amenity to the park and for the village, increasing use, activity and surveillance, improving integration and links".

Approximately 64 mature to semi-mature trees will be removed in the Fairview vicinity on the road that runs along the park.

The report is currently available to view on the Dublin City Council website. And if you want your opinion to be heard, public consultation will be open until March 9.
