PICS: Popular Dublin Bakery Is Forced To Close After High Winds Damage Their Shop

Severe winds are continuing to cause havoc around the city today with one Dublin bakery having to close up shop to deal with the damage.

As well as that, Dublin Zoo’s hugely successful Wild Lights has been forced to cancel for the second night in a row on the advice of Met Éireann.

The popular pizza shop and bakery Gaillot et Gray was damaged after high winds blew some neighbouring scaffolding onto their premises and apparently broke a window.

Anticipating the damage this morning, they had written on their Facebook page, ‘We are CLOSED this morning. The scaffolding from the building beside us is about to fall on our shop. We have a shop full of bread and pastries but cannot go near it.

‘The fire brigade has cordoned off the path. Everyone is safe and so far just a little bit of damage. Fingers crossed it is not going to damage too much. Will keep you posted.’

They later confirmed that they would be staying closed this evening too but would reopen to the public on Sunday morning.

‘DCC is removing the damaged scaffolding which is like a huge Jenga game. We have some damage but nobody has been hurt,’ they added.
