Alana Laverty

A man was arrested in Drumcondra yesterday morning on suspicion of forgery and possession of fraudulent documents.

London Metropolitan Police, who are leading an investigation into jihadi activist support cells, alerted Gardaí in Dublin and sought their assistance in locating the man, Independent.ie reports.

The man, an Algerian national in his 40s, is suspected of forging documentation and passports for Isil fighters.

Two other properties in South Dublin were searched as part of the investigation.

The man was held overnight in a South Dublin Garda station for questioning under Irish anti-terrorist laws.
