Bad news has just arrived for Dublin with the announcement that we were not successful in our bid for the European Capital Of Culture 2020.
The announcement was made this afternoon in Dublin Castle by a panel of nine adjudicators from across various European cultural bodies.

While Dublin2020 led a fantastic campaign in recent months to secure our place in the running – with amazing videos and the garnering of celebrity support – Dublin still managed to be eliminated by the judges.
During the announcement it was revealed that the shortlist for the prized title is comprised of Galway, Limerick and the Three Sisters (the combined forces of Kilkenny, Waterford and Wexford).
While these are sad tidings, we’re still a city that manages to take defeat graciously.
Congratulations to the shortlisted cities! Hard luck @dublin2020bid https://t.co/kRsOYuhc1X
