The Christmas Lights In Dublin Will Be Switched On With A Difference This Year

AmyBell

This year will mark a difference to how the streets of Dublin will be lit up with the turning on of the Christmas lights.

DublinTown and Dublin City Council have teamed up together to create a ‘Procession Of Light’ which will light up the city with a magical Christmas event on Sunday November 19th.

From 5.30pm there will be two processions taking place on either side of the city centre – on the Northside it will start from Mary’s Street and on the Southside it will begin on Grafton Street.

They’ll then join on O’Connell Street for the main celebration in a stunning display of bright Crimbo cheer.

There will be street performers from LUXe and the Lord Mayor of Dublin will switch on the lights on the gigantic 40 foot Christmas tree on O’Connell Street.

DublinTown CEO, Richard Guiney, is encouraging everyone to come along to the family friendly event.

He said, “This year we are delighted to work with our partners in Dublin City Council to create something very different, one cross-city event .

“We are inviting visitors to come into the city to watch one of two processions as they journey through the many shopping streets of Dublin, switching on the lights along the way”.

It does sound pretty magical and it is bound to get you in the festive mood!
