I probably sound like a broken record when talking about hotels in Dublin but we simply don't have anything cutting edge that can compete with the likes of London, New York or Berlin. We have nice spots like The Merrion, The Shelbourne and The Morrison but we don't have the same breed of new edgy hotels tailored to the local market as are popping up around the world. Looks like that is all about to change.
The Dean is opening on Dublin's Harcourt Street in November. I've copied what they are saying about the place themselves down below but you can clearly see that they are aiming for something brand new and game changing for Dublin.

Hotels in other cities have tapped into a new movement to embrace and welcome locals. Amazing coffee in reception areas for locals on the way to work. Yoga classes. Plugs and free internet with people encouraged to work there all day on their laptops. Amazing DJs in the evenings. Classes. Ping Pong Leagues. The thinking here is that if you create an incredible buzz in the reception area you'll not only increase revenue but have the coolest spot in town that tourists rave about when they visit. I'm thinking The Ace Hotel in New York, Soho House in Berlin or the Hoxton in Shoreditch. Here are a selection of photos from those places that highlight the vibe that will be coming to Dublin.
