It's the weekend before the bank holiday and while some of you might be saving your pennies up for a weekend away next week, many of you won't have that problem and are looking for a weekend as good as any other. Well luckily there's loads of great events on this weekend from dinner pop ups with exclusive craft beer pairings to a glamorous screening of our favourite Hitchcock film. Read on for the most exciting events in the city this weekend...
Do you like craft beer? And do you like good food? Interested in having both in the most exciting new café in the city? Luckily for you the duo behind Brews We Plate are hosting another one of their pop up dinners in Sister Sadie with Rascal Brewing this Saturday. Guests can expect five courses of stunning food matched to five craft beers including the exclusive release of Rascal Brewing's new 'Secret Ale'. Each of the five dishes have been specifically designed to enhance flavours and textures of each beer.
The owners of the award-winning brewery will present each beer and talk about their brewery, inspirations and projects. The event will kick off at 7pm in Sister Sadie, on Harrington Street, Dublin 8 and tickets cost €58. This is definitely one not to be missed if you are a food fanatic.
Martcade is a warehouse café space nestled beneath a Georgian House on the Lower Rathmines Road. They are holding a thrift market on Sunday from 11am to 6pm and there will be freshly made food on offer, as well as vendors selling repurposed furniture, bric-a-brac, handmade jewellery and vintage collectables. It’s a gorgeous set-up that also sells lots of delicious food for anyone groggy from Friday night.
Film Fatale are hosting a glamour screening of the 1960s suspense-horror masterpiece this Saturday, and encourage attendees to dress up in their finest vintage, paying homage to the 1960s. The screening will be followed by a swinging sixties party complete with bespoke cocktails designed especially for an evening of glamour, music and dancing in the Sugar Club.
Prototype is a brand new festival of play and interaction at the Project Arts Theatre. It brings together some of the most playful designers in the world to engage, excite, inspire, create and energise the city by providing a new platform for innovative social interaction and cross-disciplinary play. With a wide range of panel discussions, there will also be a Prototype Playground upstairs in the Project Arts Theatre for all to engage with. Prototype takes place on Friday and Saturday with tickets starting at €10 for a one day pass.
The boy from This Greedy Pig will be spinning a selection of their favourites tunes at the Bernard Shaw as part of the Beatyard Festival. Their music policy can vary from beats to disco, from house to hip hop, and from then on, god only knows. With a toasty smoking area, an intimate dancefloor, and 2 mojitos for a tenner, sure where else would you be kicking off your Friday night? Kicks off at 8pm, admission free.
This Sunday Sisterland are holding their third disco brunch which is a great event for anyone who loves brunch, cocktails and live music! The tickets cost €29.90 which include a welcoming cocktail by the Sussex’s head mixologist Lorcan Savage, a three course brunch by head chef Dave Coffey and is then followed by an afternoon dancing to the tunes of DJ Brian Deady.
