The Hellfire Club Is Getting A Slick €19 Million Makeover And Visitor Centre

niallharbison

The Hellfire Club is a well known location in the Dublin Mountains that is said to be haunted, a popular spot for joggers and cyclists coming from Dublin, and a top place to view the city.

It is many things to many people but that is all about to change after plans were submitted to give the whole area a €19 million makeover and turn it into a visitor centre and fully fledged tourist attraction.

The idea is that with people already coming to this area, a roll-out of better facilities and services could really put it on the map and make it a more prominent spot for locals and tourists to visit.

Some of the proposed features in the plan include…

  • A rope bridge at treetop level
  • Improved trails with signage for runners, walkers and cyclists
  • A visitor centre, including panoramic viewing areas
  • Cafés and a restaurant
  • Improved parking areas
  • Links with public transport networks

Not everybody is delighted with the proposal from an environmental standpoint but we can see how it would make a lot of sense to highlight this wonderful area of Dublin to more people.

As you can see, the views are terrific.
