To many people in Ireland, he’s best known as the guy who guest-starred in Entourage as a suitor to Ari Gold’s estranged wife.
But to foodies, he’s known for all the qualities that made him a household name in the States: an absolute God of the casual dining scene, whose ‘classical’ training has enabled him to bring a whole new level of intricacy to apparently simple foods.
He was in Dublin recently, and stopped in to visit Boojum on Kevin Street – a firm favourite of ours here at Lovin Dublin, sitting proudly up near the top of our Top 10 Places To Eat Mexican In Dublin list, and known for the insane queues it manages to generate nearly every day.
Their co-owner Andrew Maxwell was pretty stoked about the praise they got from the man himself:
It’s always nice to get some recognition from a top chef, and Bobby took a real interest in our business. He even asked for our Guacamole recipe!
And better still, they were sound enough to invite us along to chat to the legend – and I kicked off by asking him just what it is that makes the burrito so damn hot (sorry) right now.
