The New Plans For College Green’s Civic Plaza Are Here

New images of Dublin City Council's plan for a civic space at College Green have been revealed. The plan is for the area, made up of 73,200sqm, to be pedestrianised. 

According to 98FM, the space in question is being designed in order to hot major events and public gatherings - with the capacity to host up to 15,000 people. 

The plaza will be lined with twenty two new trees, removing the existing ones to best use the space. 

A new cycle route is being put in place, as well as an open water sculpture. The Thomas Davis statue is also set to be relocated west of its current perch. 

And as for traffic - the new design will allow for a new turning circle for buses and taxi ranks, which will be relocated in nearby streets. The plan also allocates two-way traffic routes for taxis, buses and the new Luas Cross City, all of which will be running around the front of Trinity College.

It's understood that Dublin City Council will be submitting the project to An Bord Pleanála for consideration later this month.
