evanmusgrave

This weekend features another stellar line up of concerts taking place in the city, Saturday in particular being absolutely jam-packed with fantastic gigs.

It’s tricky to pick just five from the range of quality concerts taking place, but here’s a nice range of sounds and crowds that’s sure to fit your musical mood.

Friday

Sim Simma w/ Born Cheating & Chris Montana @ Wigwam

Another very tasty looking event from one of the liveliest nights in the city. This time the boys bring Born Cheating – a Dublin-raised, London-based producer – and Chris Montana (of Dah Jevu) on board.

For anyone interested in Dublin hip-hop, seeing Chris perform should definitely be a priority. With an alternative sound and sharp lyrics, Chris and his group mate Bobby Basil sit firmly at the forefront of cutting-edge underground rap in Ireland.

Saturday

Mother Presents: Crazy P Soundsystem

Experience the funkiest and smoothest disco-house beats this with an act seven albums deep into their career who are renowned around the world for their energetic live sets.

Another great booking from one of Dublin’s finest electronic and disco nights, pop on down this Saturday if you’re feeling the major boogie.

Lethal Dialect @ The Academy

Ireland’s premier rapper makes another giant leap with one of the biggest shows of his career thus far – this time taking the stage with a full live band. With rave reviews for his ‘1988’ album release last year and a busy year of acting and new work, this Saturday’s gig in the Academy is a significant stepping stone in the rise and rise of one of Ireland’s most promising music artists.

Check out his excellent latest single ‘New Dublin Saunter’ below.

Jimmy Edgar @ Opium Rooms

With years of DJing and producing experience behind him, Jimmy Edgar is very assured behind the decks and in the lab, regularly delighting Irish crowds with his skills. There’s no reason to think this Saturday’s gig in Opium Rooms will be any different – a very solid bet for some top quality electronic music with a lively crowd.

Declan O’ Rourke @ Whelans

One of the top dogs on the Irish singer-songwriter scenes and indeed veteran performer by now, having taking up gigging over a decade ago, O’ Rourke consistently dazzles with heartfelt tunes and powerful performances.

Over the years he’s not only established himself as one of Ireland’s most prominent solo artists, he’s also made quite a name for himself internationally, working with legendary producer Rick Rubin on an album and performing at the high profile Electric Burma concert.

This is a rare enough ol’ hometown gig at one of the greatest venues for indie music in the country and you shouldn’t miss this one lightly if that’s your jam.
