There Are Plans For A Brand New Music Venue On This City Centre Site

Sharron

Developers are looking to build a 520-seater music and entertainment venue in the city centre.

They’re looking to redevelop the site of the old Screen Cinema off Pearse Street. The Marlet Property Group has applied for a 10-storey mixed use site that’ll include the venue, according to today’s Herald.

The plan includes demolishing the nine-storey building and the new site will host shows and gigs similar to those held in the Sugar Club and the Button Factory.

The outside of the building will also have an interactive screen located at eye level. Planners say it’ll provide “a screen for the city”, and will post details of upcoming Dublin events.

They added that the venue will contribute to the creation of a new, vibrant and dynamic quarter and would act as a link between Grafton Street, Temple Bar and Dublin’s docklands.

As well as the music venue, the building will hold offices for national and multi-national companies.

A decision on the application is due next month.
