There’s A New Doughnut Shop In Town That Some Of You Might Already Be Familiar With

Any doughnut lovers worth their weight in powdered sugar will already know of the deliciously quaint kiosk, The Rolling Donut, that has graced the street of O'Connell for several years now.

The Rolling Donut is a family-run business set up by Michael Quinlan back in 1978. He originally began trading in Gaiety Green at the Dandelion Market and continued to sell his dreamy produce through to the 1980's. The little doughnut kiosk on O'Connell Street that Dubliners know and love was set up in 1988 and over 40 years later is still a city centre staple.

After a brief flirtation with Aungier Street, The Rolling Donut Hut lives again - this time on Bachelor's Walk.

Their new store will provide all the original doughnuts Dubliners know and love, and will also be experimenting with new flavours, to keep our tastebuds on their toes.

But the best part in all of this tasty news? On their new menu, The Rolling Donut Hut have a new tasty treat dubbed, well, ‘The Dub’. This involves a crisp, light and fluffy doughnut, made with a rich chocolate ganache combined with a smooth and creamy vanilla custard filling. Yaaaasss.

Daughters of founder Michael Quinlan, Lisa and Aimee, had this to say about the endeavour:

We are so excited to launch our flagship store and to introduce a brand new, carefully curated doughnut menu to customers. As a family, we’ve spent years experimenting, getting inspiration from the best doughnut shops in London and New York and perfecting our recipe, so we are thrilled to now be able to give customers a fresh taste of what makes The Rolling Donut so great.
