There’s Going To Be An Epic Homecoming For The Dublin Footballers In Town This Evening

Alana Laverty

Cancel your plans for the evening –  here’s your chance to celebrate with the Dublin team after their legendary win yesterday.

Lord Mayor of Dublin, Brendan Carr, and Dublin City Council are hosting this public event in Smithfield Plaza from 4.30 today. And we can already feel the incredible atmosphere.

It will be buzzing.

As a True Blue, I am delighted to host the Dublin Senior Football team on the occasion of their All Ireland win. It takes a good team to win one All Ireland but it takes a great team to win back-to-back All Irelands. This feat is all the more special when you consider that Dublin have been unbeaten in league and championship in 2016. I would like to commiserate with Mayo who contributed to a great game today. I encourage all Dubliners to come to Smithfield Plaza tomorrow and once again cheer on the ‘Boys in Blue’ and the backroom staff and to congratulate them on this outstanding achievement.

Lord Mayor Brendan Carr

Fans are advised to get there early to ensure a good spot!

This is a family-friendly, alcohol-free event and organisers are advising attendees to use public transport to and from the event!

The Smithfield Luas stop could be closed between 4.30 – 8, however, so keep that in mind. The Four Courts and Museum stops will remain open so you can stroll down from there.
