Anyone who passes along the North Quays on a regular basis will be familiar with the Ormond Quay Hotel, which had fallen into disrepair after being closed down over a decade ago.
Efforts have been ongoing over the past few years to breathe new life into the building and now it has been confirmed that the hotel will reopen in 2019, following a multi-million makeover.
The landmark, which was immortalised in James Joyce's Ulysses, will be the first site to open under a new hotel brand - with award-winning New York interior design team Avroko leading the transformation.
Avroko previously designed One Central Park Hotel in Manhattan, The Modern Pantry in London and the Duck Duck Goat restaurant in Chicago.
It's believed that they will work with Irish architects HJ Lyons to complete the revamp and given their past projects, it could be very slick indeed...
The hotel is owned by Monteco Holdings and it's understood that the makeover will “respect and restore the site incorporating its Joycean heritage”.
“Our intention is to market Ireland and this hotel heavily to Asian tourists and millennial visitors to Dublin” said CEO Mark Lankester.
“Travel from Asia has been steadily growing over the past few years and this hotel will help grow these numbers into Dublin for this very significant market.”
Work on the Ormond Hotel in Dublin is due to start shortly and the hotel will create in the region of 100 new jobs in Dublin 1.
