You may or may not have heard of Assassination Custard before, but you’d definitely walked past it.

Located on 19 Kevin Street Upper, Dublin 8, this café is run by two chefs, who built an idea around ‘food, coffee, wine, beer and experimentation’.

It seats a handful of people, fewer than a dozen definitely, but boasts a unique experience based around deadly food and extreme flavours.

Their daily menu is certainly experimental, well thought out, and  humbly scribbled on a piece of paper, and is usually priced somewhere between the €3 – €8 mark.

It opened late in 2015, and has been successfully keeping a low profile in the city centre, despite it’s super reasonable prices and delicious homemade grub.

However, things are starting to heat up for the café, exposure-wise.

Sure didn’t BBC Travel themselves feature them on their Instagram…

The reason you may not have stumbled across this hidden gem of hidden gems naturally, is because it is still under the guise of ‘Little Café’, or so it says on the tin.

But don’t let appearances deceive you. What it lacks in surface area, it makes up for in stellar cuisine.

Authentic, delicate tastes mixed with experimental flavours give you meals such as ‘lamb neck with dried lime, aioli and onions’, ‘goats heart’, ‘Labneh with Zhoug’ and enough cockles to give Molly Malone herself something to shout about.

Hungry yet?!

However, good things come to those who book in advance.

Due to the tininess of their humble adobe, deliciousness of their delicacies, and boasting the introverted perfection of having a whole restaurant to yourself; Assassination Custard has the potential to be booked out for days, weeks and even months in advance.

So get to it quickly, and have your own personal dining experience, in one of the most extraordinary spots in the city.
