The Regency Hotel, located in Whitehall, Dublin 9, has announced that is has gone into receivership following the widely publicised shooting of David Byrne that took place there, back in February 2016.

The attack was the first of many gangland-related fatalities to happen on the streets of Dublin.

According to the Irish Sun, David Byrne was fatally injured when four men entered the hotel during a weigh-in for a boxing event and began firing.

Due to this highly publicised event, the hotel has an enormous amount of its bookings cancelled, struggling to keep things afloat.

Despite the insurance payment received by the hotel following the shooting, the Regency has unfortuantely fallen into receivership following a huge lack of business.
