Dublin is beautifully unique in the way that you’re never too far from the coast – so fresh sand, salty sea air and all of its illuminating properties are never more than a DART trip away.
The capital’s coastline is as vast as it is rugged, and it almost seems that there’s a beach for absolutely everything.
For beginners, for swimmers, for Dublin celebs to strut up and down (we’re looking at you, Dún Laoghaire Pier), but there is indeed one ring to rule them all, one cherry atop the cake and one coastal perch that boasts the best views, best spot and total secrecy from the world above.
That is the Vico Baths, Vico Road, Killiney
The most secluded spot in town, the dreamiest place to perch and the absolute best hangover cure a Dubliner could ask for.
These baths go back for centuries and boast a place to get changed, a perch from which you can jump and plunge into the swirling pools below, and also a nifty bathing spot for those not keen for some briny deep plungin’.
It’s rarely crowded, boasts loads of parking and is a mere hop, skip and a jump away from the nearest DART Station.
Oh, and it looks like this…
Utterly gorgeous, totally secluded and even a place to hide your shame when you’re getting dressed. Ideal.
And hey, you can even call for Bono and see if he wants to join you.
Not too shabby, eh?
