Did you notice a part of South Dublin turn a deeper shade of fuschia last night?
Well you’ll be glad to know that you weren’t dreaming, as it turns out that the Obelisk at Killiney Hill did indeed come up magenta yesterday evening – but all for a very solemn reason.

Speaking to a local photographer, Lovin Dublin were informed that the monument light-up was done in order to honour a young member of their community who had died six years previously. Her name was Hannah Bryan, and she would have been 21 last night.
”Hannah had a rare cancer and sadly passed away aged 15, pink was her favourite colour, yesterday would have been her 21st Birthday. The obelisk was turned pink in her honour.”
However heart-breaking, the beautiful honouring could be seen for miles – allowing Hannah’s spirit never to be forgotten, and showcasing that she will always be remembered.
What a beautiful sentiment.
