A new ‘urban beach’ project, which includes a floating swimming pool made from a converted river barge, was approved today by An Bord Planeala for Dún Laoghaire harbour.
The project, inspired by Berlin’s famed Badeschiff facility, is filled using heated and treated seawater – and the ‘urban beach’ that surrounds it will also include changing facilities and a brand new café.
It’s due to be completed in time for next year’s summer season, and is estimated to bring 100,000 visitors to the town each year – worth a whopping €1m per annum to the local economy.
Looks pretty slick, we have to say!
