This may just be the greatest free event in Dublin we’ve come across in a while.
Happenings, in association with Stop Climate Chaos, present the Irish premiere of This Changes Everything with an open-air screening in Merrion Square today.
Directed by Avi Lewis and inspired by Naomi Klein’s best-selling book of the same name, This Changes Everything is a powerful rallying-cry for a global movement to take on the challenge of climate change.
Starting at 5.30pm, there will be live music courtesy of Mundy, Oliver Cole, and DJs. You can also enjoy some amazing street food from the Irish Village Markets’ food stalls, as well as games like Climate Chaos Croquet.
There’ll also be a wandering Molly Malone, a climate change photo exhibition, and hidden messages from Young Friends of the Earth for the more eagle-eyed attendees.
Gavin Harte’s Bicycle Generator will be on site, serving up bicycle-demolished smoothies and bicycle-powered projections under the trees.
Ben & Jerry’s will also be dishing out free ice cream in exchange for your signature on the climate change petition to take positive action in Paris at COP 21 this December (which you can learn more about by clicking here).
Gates open at 5.30pm for all the pre-screening grub, craic and music, and the film starts just after 7.45pm. Everything’s finished by 9.30pm, so it’s great for the little ’uns.
While the event is free, it’s for a good cause so there is a recommended donation of €5. To check out the trailer for This Changes Everything, take a look below.
