This Picture From 1969 Shows Our Newspapers’ Very Irish Take On The Moonlanding

This is simple, but rather lovely.

As the world’s media became transfixed by the amazing feat of man first landing on the moon in 1969, Irish media were clearly taking a far more blasé tone towards the whole thing.

This photo, published today on the wonderful Photos of Dublin Twitter account, shows a newspaper seller from around the time – and the display headline on the sign beside him is just perfect.
