The German retailer, Lidl, has become the first major supermarket chain in Ireland to sign up to The Living Wage Campaign.
The living wage “is a wage which makes possible a minimum acceptable standard of living.”
From November, Lidl employees will receive the higher hourly rate of €11.50.
Hopefully other retailers and employers across the country will follow Lidl’s lead in the coming months, helping to make Ireland an even better place to live and work in.
