This Touching LGBT Memorial Was Unveiled In The City Over The Weekend

A new memorial has been unveiled in the city centre, paying tribute to members of the LGBT community who are no longer with us.

The touching plaque is located in Merrion Square (close to the Oscar Wilde statue) and carries the message that "A happy life is one which is in accordance with its own nature".

The unveiling is part of this year's Pride Festival, with the city currently gearing up for the Pride Parade this weekend.

However, some concerns have been raised that the monument is "exclusionary" as it mentions the "lesbian and gay community" rather than all those who identify as LGBTQ.

Also- if you want to do something remembering only lesbian and gay people? Okay. But don't call it LGBTQ, when it's not?

But it isn't in remembrance of the LGBT+ community; it memorializes the LG section. Says so on the plaque. LG doesn't refer to all of us.
