This Vacant Building On Aungier Street Looks Set For A €1 Million Restoration

seank

You’ve probably passed the boarded-up former pub at the corner of Aungier Street and Digges Street dozens of times without giving it a second thought, but now it seems the unoccupied structure could be getting a €1 million restoration.

Pub chain Press Up has submitted plans to renovate 43 Aungier Street and its neighbouring building 1 Digges Street with a view to reopening as a pub after about 20 years of vacancy, according to DublinInquirer.com.

The Victorian building dates back to 1825 and is protected, so the restoration intends to stay largely faithful to its history. The most notable addition to the structure would be a rooftop terrace.

Dublin City Council sold the building for €831,000 and its redevelopment is expected to cost about €1 million, according to Press Up’s head of marketing and PR.
