If you attended Trinity College Dublin, just saying the words ‘Trinity Tree’ is probably enough for you to know exactly what we’re talking about it.
The 170-year-old famous maple tree which was situated on Liberty Square collapsed and fell overnight early Saturday morning.
It was planted around the 1840s according to the college and it is believed to be the oldest tree in Trinity College.

The college said that one of their most “wonderful trees came crashing down in Front Square at 4am this morning. Generations will miss this magnificent tree.”
Some are calling for the remains to be made into benches for the college.
