Want To See Tommy Tiernan For Free? He's Looking For A Live Studio Audience For His New Radio Show

The show will feature guest interviews, but the host won't know who they are until they arrive on stage

Chat shows are as old as television, but can Navan's favourite comedian (okay, one of Navan's favourite comedians) reinvigorate the format? Tommy Tiernan will present a new type of chat show, beginning this Saturday on RTÉ 2fm.

The Tommy Tiernan Show will have two celebrity guests every week in front of a live audience – sounds like your typical chat show, right?

“One of the great things about the old Late Late Show was not knowing who the guests were until they appeared on screen, it kept the whole thing lively, so I just thought well how would it be if the host didn’t know who they were until they walked out either.

Doing it front of a live audience is the key for me, it all seems like good unpredictable fun.”

Tommy Tiernan

Tiernan is no stranger to chat shows, so he must know that this is a risky business – just look at the success of Graham Norton's show, a well-oiled machine based upon impeccable research, and you'll realise how this mystery guest format has all the ingredients of a disaster... or some kind of delightful mess.

With tickets being free you've no excuse not to get in on this, but booking is essential. Simply email your name, number of tickets (four max) and your preferred date to tommy@rte.ie.

The show starts this Saturday July 4 at 1pm and will take place every Saturday in July at The Sugar Club on Leeson Street – apart from the final show, which takes place on Saturday July 25 at the Vodafone Comedy Festival in Iveagh Gardens.

Whether it tanks or it soars, you'd still rather say you were there.
