Add us as a preferred source on Google »Dubliners returning to work after the weekend might want to layer up as bitterly cold temperatures are taking hold this Monday morning.
With the temperature currently at -3 degrees, a Met Éireann warning of 'slippery paths and treacherous roads' is in place until 10am.
Severe frost will linger in many parts of the country today with temperatures only reaching 3 or 4 °C in cold northerly winds. Otherwise a cold, bright day with mixed wintry showers across Connacht, Ulster and west Munster but mainly dry elsewhere.

Conditions are even worse across the rest of the country with the worst affected areas being 'Roscommon, Sligo, Donegal, Cavan & the eastern half of Galway.'
