Plumes of smoke surrounded Dublin’s coastline yesterday evening as a gorse fire engulfed Howth Head.
Four units, including one high-volume pump, from Kilbarrack, North Strand, Phibsborough and Tara Street HQ rushed to the scene after 5.30pm and began to tackle the fire.

Teams used drones equipped with FLIR-thermal software to watch from above, detect hot spots and help concentrate firefighting operations.
Things began to wind down after midnight once crews got the fire under control.
