Five fisherman were rescued from a sinking trawler by RNLI crews early this morning off the north Dublin coast.
Three RNLI lifeboats from Skerries, Howth and Clogherhead rushed to the rescue along with the help of the Coast Guard helicopter after the boat got into difficulty on the rocks close to the coast, south of Balbriggan harbour.
The engine stopped working and efforts were made, once the boat’s crew were evacuated, to keep it afloat but it eventually sank.
Just look how quickly the rescuers got all five members of crew to safety – extremely impressive.
Well done to all involved.
