Gardai have confirmed that they are investigating an incident in which a car was reportedly stolen and driven into the Royal Canal last night.
This shocking video was sent into us by local resident Chris Barry, who captured the madness of this car drifting all over the road before driving straight into the water.
The incident happened in the Sheriff Street area at about 11pm last night.
The drifting lasted between five and 10 minutes, before the vehicle went straight into the water.
The person driving the vehicle manages to pop out of the car just before it plummets into the water, with crowds heard cheering as they made their exit.
On following up with the Garda Press Office, a spokesperson confirmed that Store Street Station is currently investigating the incident.
“Gardaí in Store Street are investigating this incident, which occurred on 23/01/17 at approximately 22:50. The vehicle was reported stolen.”
