There’s plenty on around Dublin this weekend, so take a read of the following recommendations and see if any of them tickle your fancy!
Friday
Local Talk Records at Pygmalion
Mad Mats and Tooli of Local Talk Records take to the decks at Pygmalion tonight. Four years ago they joined forces to set up their own record label, based around their shared love of house music, and they’ve never looked back. From the video below you can see that things got a little bit mental the last time they visited Dublin. Well worth popping into Pygmalion for a boogie if you’re in the mood for some deep house, and the odd Whitney Houston track!
still here presents LOVE STORY
This will be a serious romantic party hosted by ‘still here’ in Odessa – there’ll be love alcoves, photobooth, a wishing tree, heaps of glitter and plenty of surprises from the looks of things. All proceeds from the evening are going to the Yes Equality campaign – celebrating love, and saying yes to love. In terms of tunes there will be sets from some of Dublin’s best DJs including This Greedy Pig, Panda Party, World Wibes and more. We don’t know about you but donating to the Marriage Equality fund whilst having a good time seems like a pretty perfect Friday night activity!
Saturday
WorldWibes III: Lane’s World
Making its triumphant return to the Blind Pig for a third round of exotic celebrations, WorldWibes is all about showing the more flavoursome side of music. Don’t expect to hear any of the tunes played in every club across town, things will be very much exotic, celebrating world music. With the lovely weather we’ve been having recently, the party will take place in the lane in the lane of Pacino’s, entry through the back door on Wicklow Street. If you’re looking for a Saturday night bop with a difference, this is it.
Sunday
Dublin Vintage Factory Kilo Sale
Shopping, cocktails and tunes. Need we say any more? Hunt & Gather Creations and The Dublin Vintage Factory will be hosting this fabulous affair in Hangar. A kilo of gorgeous vintage clothes costs a mere €20, so you’re sure to nab a few bargains plus there’ll be half price drinks at the bar making it a fab Sunday afternoon activity.
The Simma Down Launch Party
The crew at Sim Simma are throwing a shindig to celebrate the launch of their Simma Down section which will be at Life Festival this year. From 6pm onwards in the Twisted Pepper there will be reggae yoga, dancehall dance classes, a ping pong, tournament, African drumming workshops, as well as free pizza courtesy of the Big Blue Bus for anyone down early enough. With cans of Red Stripe available at the bar for a mere €3m where else would you be going on a Sunday night other than bed?
