We've gotten our first real taste of summer sunshine this week, and with it comes a rake of daytime parties.
If you're on the fence about heading out this weekend, take a read of the following recommendations and see if any of them tickle your fancy!
To mark the 20th anniversary of the cult classic, Friday, starring Ice Cube & Chris Tucker, The Sugar Club are hosting a screening on Friday night. You can ease yourself into the weekend by watching the antics of Smokey & Craig at 9.30pm, and then get on down to the music of Dr. Dre from 11pm til late.
Tom and Danny, the masters of the disco edits return to Dublin for what promises to be another great night. You've definitely heard one or two of their great remixes before, but their DJ sets have to be seen (or heard?) to be believed. You'll get a good giggle out of everyone fumbling for their phones to Shazam certain mystical songs throughout the course of the night.
We've found the perfect party for anyone who not only loves football, but also loves daytime drinking..
Dalymount Park will be kitted out with a massive sound system for a pitchside party, with food, drinks promos and a screening of the Ireland Vs Scotland Euro 2016 Qualifier from the Players Bar. There'll also be tunes from the likes of Sally Cinnamon, DJ Deece, White Collar Boy and Stephen Manning so it promises to be a delish day out!
If you're looking for a challenge this weekend, this 14 hour music marathon could be it..
The first part of the Telephones party takes place in Pallas Studios (an old primary school in D8) from 2pm - 10pm. Sim Simma will be doing ping-pong tournaments, reggae yoga, badminton, African drumming classes, BBQ and DJ sets all day. Then once the sun goes down, the second part of the party will be kicking off in a laneway in D2, with Hunee taking to the decks. This will be like a mini-festival smackbang in the city centre for one day only, so get involved!
Think Ulysses is boring? The Fathers of Western Thought will set you straight on that one..
Their modern musical adaptation of James Joyce's iconic novel will have you breaking your heart laughing whilst also moving you to tears. This is a wholesome Sunday evening activity and a great way to swot up on your Joyce ahead of Bloomsday!
Anyone for some prosecco on the lawn? This will be a relaxed evening of food and beverages around the Tiki in the gardens of IMMA, to mark the end of the Summer Rising festival. There will be live music performances as the sun goes down in the gorgeous grounds of The Irish Museum of Modern Art with plenty of delicious food prepared by Michelle Darmody, of Cake Café fame. How very sophisticated!
