Woman Released Unharmed From Hostage Situation That Began In Dublin This Morning

A woman (30s) was held hostage by a man (40s) in a house in Ballyogan Green, Dublin 18 today. 

A number of Gardaí, negotiators and members of the Defence Forces bomb squad were called to the house from approximately 11.20am. 

The woman was released unharmed from the house after a short period of time. 

A statement from An Garda Síochána said negotiators were in constant contact with the man who eventually left the house at approximately 3.30pm and was later brought to hospital:

“Negotiators were in constant contact with this man and at approximately 3:30pm he left the house and was taken to hospital for treatment.”

The Defence Forces bomb squad were called to the the scene as a precaution and replica firearm was recovered from the house.
