Don't Read This If You Live In Dublin And Have A Fear Of Rats

You've been warned...

We don't mean to alarm any of you excitable types out there, but 565 cases of suspected rat infestations have been reported to the Dublin's local authority between January 2014 and May 2015.

Of those cases reported, 420 required the services of the council's Pest Control and Fumigation Services.

The Herald has revealed that the majority of rat complaints arose in the Dublin 12 area – which includes Crumlin, Drimnagh, Bluebell and Walkinstown – but residents across the city reported that the the hairy pests had infested their homes. Crumlin alone has lodged 45 rat complaints, while Dublin City Council spent €20,000 in the past 18 months to prevent vermin infesting their own HQ.

If all this talk of rats has made you want to start sleeping in a bedroom lined with mousetraps, while you grip a broomhandle for dear life, we honestly wouldn't blame you.
