“You’re tearing me apart, Lisa!”

Just one of the numerous oft-quoted lines from The Room, the notoriously-dreadful ‘best worst movie of all time’. For those of you not familiar with it, The Room is basically a vanity project by wannabe actor Tommy Wiseau, who funded the ‘romantic drama’ with a fortune earned by importing leather jackets from Korea. As you do.

If you’re more in tune with movies from the current era, you’re probably aware that  2017’s The Disaster Artist is based around how The Room was made and starred James and Dave Franco as Wiseau and his second-in-command Greg Sestero.

Of all the films that are famous for being terrible, The Room probably sits on top of the pile and the Lighthouse Cinema has got a treat in store for anyone who hasn’t seen it (as well as those who have.)

The Smithfield venue will be putting on the first ever Irish cinema screening of the cult classic after ‘a solid two years of trying.’ Moviegoers should note that costumes are actively encouraged (tuxes, red dresses, the lot) and there will be themed cocktails and Scotchkas in the bar beforehand.

It’s being described as ‘the craziest craic you’ll ever have in a cinema’ and it all takes place on on Friday April 5 (9pm in the bar ahead of an 11pm screening. More information can be found here.
