Uh Oh – Ed Sheeran’s Phoenix Park Gigs Could Be Moved Following Residents Complaints

AmyBell

Ed Sheeran is set to play three Dublin gigs in the Phoenix Park next May, but it looks like there could be trouble brewing after a number of residential complaints.

The ‘Thinking Out Loud’ singer-songwriter’s gigs will see over 180,000 fans flock to the park, with the shows set to take place near the Ashtown Gate entrance.

According to the Irish Independent, Fingal County Council members have requested a meeting with Dublin City Council in an effort to move the gigs to another part of the park due to a high number of residents nearby complaints.

They reported that Fianna Fáil Councillor, Howard Mahoney, said that local residents were not consulted prior to a licence being granted for the gigs. They have also raised their concerns about facilities around the venue.

Mr Mahoney has said that the gigs should take place in a more central area of the park.

Speaking at a meeting of the Fingal County Council last week, Mr Mahoney said, “It’s a huge inconvenience for residents. We could have what happened at Croke Park for Garth Brooks.

“We’re not objecting to the thing taking place, we just feel there is a more suitable location for it.”

We’ll keep you posted on what happens next.
