Cycle Your City With The Great Dublin Bike Ride This Weekend

Sarah Finnan

The Great Dublin Bike Ride will return to Phoenix Park this Sunday.

This year’s event, organised by Sport Ireland, in conjunction with Cycling Ireland, boasts new routes that pass by some of Dublin’s most famous landmarks.

Get some fresh air and take in the sights all at the same time. Cyclers will do a tour de Dublin of sorts, taking in such iconic attractions as the Guinness Storehouse, the River Liffey, the Ha’penny Bridge and Bull Island to name but a few.

Catering to all abilities, from expert to novice, there are 60km and 100km routes to choose from. The event starts and finishes in Phoenix Park with two feed stations available for riders as well as medical and mechanical support along the route.

Anyone who finishes will get a Great Dublin Bike Ride medal along with a goodie bag as well as snacks and refreshments at food stops along the route.

Part of the European Week of Sport, it’s a great excuse to dust off the cobwebs and get out and get active. As the saying goes, a Sunday well spent brings a week of content.

Tickets range from €20-€50 and can be bought here.

Sure to be a wheelie good time, I just hope you’re not too tyred after.
