It seems like everyone and their mother is trying to rent in Dublin at the minute.

Between constantly refreshing Daft and endless open viewings, it’s a frustrating experience that can seem never-ending.

We here at Lovin Dublin want to help you achieve your rental dreams, so we’ve compiled a list of things that landlords typically look for from tenants.

1. Previous landlord references

This is a fairly standard requests from landlords/agents - just to make sure you're not going to be throwing any Project X-esque major ragers.

2. Work reference

Again, standard enough. Gotta make sure you can afford that ridiculously overpriced rent.

3. A deposit

Expect this to be somewhere between €600 and €75,000, no matter where you're renting.

4. 'The password'

Try saying 'alakazam', 'password' or 'password123' to the landlord when you meet them initially.

5. The seven Horcruxes

Wait, what?

6. A month's rent up front

This always looks better presented in a nice, crisp envelope.

7. Three drops of water from the Fountain of Youth

It's just as well, because by the time you find somewhere to rent, you will have aged significantly.

8. The blood of your first born

9. That really nice top you lost ages ago that you only got to wear once

It's imperative that you bring this, otherwise you can kiss that extortionately priced two-bed in Ranelagh goodbye.

10. The Beatles 'White' album on vinyl, signed by Paul McCartney

11. A photograph of you looking very happy next to a house

This stands as the ultimate proof that you are the model tenant.

12. A bank statement

Landlords occasionally ask for these to make sure you'll pay your rent on time and that you're not spending €45 a week on Pokémon GO.

13. The trophy from the Credit Union quiz you won in 5th Class

Everyone knows that anoraks make the best tenants.

14. A blessing from the bishop of your diocese

Fun fact: tenants LOVE renting to servants of God. It goes without saying that the Pope's word would be best, but some landlords would also be willing to settle for your local parish priest.

15. ... And your PPS number, of course

Now you're all set to take on the big bad world of renting! Happy house hunting!
