5 Brilliant Netflix Offerings To Watch This Saturday Night

seank

If you’re the kind who’s full of beans and good intentions, you’ll probably want to go to the gym tonight. But if you’re the other kind of person, all you’ll want to do is literally throw yourself at the couch for the entire weekend.

That’s our favourite kind of person.

To help you enjoy your much deserved night of vegetating, we’ve thrown together a little list of Netflix suggestions to make it that much easier.

Oversized mugs of tea and PJs optional.

1. Documentary – Team Foxcatcher

You’re probably familiar with the name Foxcatcher from the based-on-true-events movie starring Steve Carrell, Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo – this documentary looks at the same events.

It follows the story of millionaire wrestling enthusiast John E du Pont, who recruited and funded an American wrestling team to participate in the Olympics during the ’80s.

However, as du Pont became increasingly mentally unstable, the Olympic dream ended in tragedy for all concerned. It makes for a powerful watch.

2. Bingewatch – Marseille

The story follows Robert Taro (Gérard Depardieu), who’s has been the mayor of the titular city for 25 years. Now he faces an election against his young, ambitious former protégé (Benoît Magimel), who’ll stop at nothing to win…

Lovers of House Of Cards will eat up this French political drama, but as you can see from the trailer, it’s entirely in French.

But keep in mind, subtitle haters, Narcos was mostly in Spanish and it still managed to be addictive viewing.

3. Stand-up – Louis CK: Live At The Beacon Theatre

If you’re lacking the patience to watch a full movie tonight and you don’t want to make the committment that comes with starting a whole new show, some stand-up is just what you need.

Louis CK is one of the best comedians in the US at the moment and here you’ve got about an hour of top quality gags.

See the clip below for a taster.

4. Easy watch – Bad Neighbours

If you want a movie of the light-hearted variety, this one’s for you.

Mac (Seth Rogen) and Kelly Radner (Rose Byrne) are a young couple with a newborn daughter whose new neighbours are a college fraternity, intent on throwing constant wild parties.

Spoiler alert: hilarity ensues.

5. Classic – Wayne’s World

Of course, sometimes there’s comfort in going back to an old reliable, and Monday nights are all about comfort.

Re-watch the ’90s classic that is Wayne’s World, where best friends Wayne (Mike Myers) and Garth (Dana Carvey) present a cult local-access TV show that’s gets picked up by a corporate sleazeball Benjamin (Rob Lowe), who’s got his sights set on Wayne’s girlfriend…

Have you any other Netflix suggestions that are perfect for a Monday night? Let us know in the comments.
