9 Places In Town To Pick Up A Bangin’ Bento Box On The Go

Bento is a Japanese-style packed lunch, consisting of such items as rice, vegetables and sashimi. Or, as most of us call them, they’re sushi boxes.

They’re delicious, healthy and the perfect portion size for busy folks on the run. Like yourselves.

1. Ukiyo

Not just for karaoke.

Ukiyo is a great little spot, just on the corner of Exchequer Street, which does killer bento boxes for just a tenner. They’ll fill you up for the day, and with all the right things, too. 

2. Musashi

In here, you’ll find a truly decadent bento box for just under a tenner – retailing at €9.45.

Their bento box specials change every day, meaning every day there’s a special bento treat waiting for you! How ideal. 

3. Zakura

€8.99 for a dreamy, nutritious meal that will fill you for the whole day? Zakura, you’ve done it again.

Better still, they’re got an equally delicious vegetarian bento box available for the same price. Happy days.

4. Sushi King

They don’t call themselves the king for nothing…

Sushi King rolls out the red carpet for you on arrival, with one of the dreamiest bento boxes in town retailing at just €8.99. In that you can get anything from Goma kikkomen duck salad to seafood nori ten to negima yakitori, and they’re all unbelievable. 

5. Michie Sushi

This place has topped sushi guides for the past few years, and with their dedication to fresh, tasty produce, it’s not hard to see why. 

A firm favourite with those of Japanese descent living here, this place is as authentic as you can get – and their takeaway bento boxes are the perfect treat for workers keen for a good, solid lunch. 

6. Aoki

Aoki has you absolutely spoiled with €8.50 for a delicious bento box, made with love, care and sticky rice. There are both hot and cold variations available, with the option to purchase a drink for €1 extra. 

7. Yamamori

This place is famous for big portions, big tastes and big smiles on customers’ faces. Their lunch times bentos retail at €9.95, with their dinner versions being slightly more expensive – but worth their weight in raw fish. Trust us, in here, you can’t go wrong.

8. Banyi

Slightly more expensive than the rest (at €10.90, with miso included) Banyi offers it all and leaves nothing out, with their super elegant boxes, filled with tasty, tasty Japanese food. 

It’s regarded as one of the better sushi places in town, hence the slightly higher price tag. But trust us, it’s so worth it. 

9. J2 Grill & Sushi

Nestled into the IFSC, J2 is Japanese cooking at its best and most reasonable – with incredible bento boxes for only €8.50. Their staff are great and super knowledgeable, so if you find yourself lost in translation, then feel free to ask.

But if you don’t want to ask, just closing your eyes and choosing works too – everything is INSANELY good.
