Are you on a diet? Not sure how to make sense of the stupidly complicated food packaging that we all have to deal with these days? What's a calorie? How many grams in an ounce? Well we have found a couple of new tools that could be just for you. One is called a SITU scale and the other The Prep Pad and it is part of a new move into smart connectable devices into the kitchen and other parts of the home.
All you have to do is hook the scales up with your app and it then lets you choose from hundreds of ingredients and lets you track calories, protein levels etc etc. It is probably incredibly useful for an athlete or somebody who is into tracking their diet very carefully but it just seems like a lot of hard work to us! Cooking should be fun, liberating and a pleasure without having to hook it up to the online world. We aren't against technology in the kitchen but when we cook in the evenings it is one of the few times that we switch off from the connected world after a day in the office. Sometimes we can just have too much technology in our lives and this feels like one of those times.
Both of these projects came from Kickstarter and have just hit the market. With Apple's new iWatch launching tomorrow, tons of fitness apps out there like Fitbit and Up it feels like we are about to enter a new world of the connected kitchen.
