"Blight": The Terrifying Irish Short That Will Creep You Out This Weekend

Can we get this screened in Dublin, please?

Fans of horror should already be feeling a familiar giddy thrill with the announcement that the short film Blight will premiere this week at the Galway Film Fleadh.

Having secured funding from Irish Filmboard's Signatures, director Brian Deane and Anna O'Malley are hopeful their terrifying short will be a stepping stone to their first feature film.

The film is a dark psychological horror set on a remote Island off the West Coast of Ireland during the 1950s. A priest is summoned to a remote Island to rescue a young girl who appears to be tormented by an evil entity...

Producer Anna O'Malley, who has worked on hit TV shows Vikings and Penny Dreadful, has said: "You need to get your audience interested, tell a story and leave them satisfied in less than 15 minutes. It's a challenge, but we're hoping Blight will have our audience squirming in their seats."

To get your hands on a pair of tickets to see Blight in Town Hall Theatre Galway this Saturday – worth the trip, when you consider that it's being screened along with a host of other new films at New Irish Shorts 7: IFB Premiere Shorts – click here.
